SAP fire alarm system in storage halls

Advanced fire alarm systems allow to minimise the time of notifying the fire brigade about an occurred fire risk, giving on opportunity to take immediate rescue action.

Advanced fire alarm systems allow to minimise the time of notifying the fire brigade about an occurred fire risk, giving on opportunity to take immediate rescue action. SAP – early fire warning system play an extremely important role in the context of protecting life, health and property.

Practical application of SAP fire alarm system

The early fire warning system enables to detect fire in its initial phase even before occurrence of the open fire. This solution allows for a quick and accurate location of the risk, indication of its formation place as well as immediate notification about the danger the immediate environment and the fire brigade. The SAP fire alarm system automatically starts the fire fighting equipment with a steering centre or automatically opens smoke doors and flaps.

SAP centre

Installation of the SAP system operates on the basis of a fire alarm control unit or a centre network to detect and signal the fire risk. After receiving the signal from a detection circuit, which cooperates with detectors, manual call point fire buttons, and other linear elements, the control unit signals optically and acoustically about the danger, while starting the additional systems, such as for example an automatic fire extinguishing system (sprinklers).

Fire detectors

The fire detectors are an inherent element of the SAP system and come in many varieties:

  • ionization smoke detector – responding to smoke;
  • optical smoke detector – responding to smoke;
  • temperature sensor – responding to temperature increase;
  • linear smoke detector – responding to change in the air transparency;
  • flame detectors – responding to the emergence of an open fire – flame;
  • intrinsic-safe detectors – for use in rooms at the risk of explosion;
  • optical wireless smoke detector – not requiring connection of a cable system.

Law and the obligation to install the SAP system

The obligation to install the SAP system stems from the Act on fire protection and the Regulation of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. In accordance with the above, the SAP system is a mandatory requirement in single storey storage halls with area of fire zone exceeding 5,000 square meters. Fire alarm systems must be designed (in accordance with the provisions and standards in force) by people with high qualifications and appropriate, valid recipient’s authorisations.

Harmonious coordination of the SAP system’s particular element allows to effectively ensure the safety of both people residing in the hall and the property in it. Certainly the decision to implement the fire alarm system must be thought out, and its installation should be entrusted to experts with the appropriate knowledge and experience.
